Frequently Asked Questions

  • Downsizing is essential to the healing process to ensure you have a happy healthy healing process. We highly recommend downsizing once the swelling has subsided. Depending on the piercing 4-6 weeks is the average time that it is necessary to downsize. The Jewellery used for the initial piercing is to allow for swelling, it will then be deemed too long and leaving the Jewellery from the initial piercing you may experience issues eg. excess movement, catching/snagging, migration, rejection and irritation.

If a piercing is slept on while the longer bar is being used, it can shift the angle at which it was pierced at. This cannot be reversed.

Oral piercings MUST be downsized in 2-3 weeks of the initial appointment. This is extremely important to minimize tooth and gum erosion and tooth damage.

There is no charge with the downsizing but the cost of the new shorter bar.

  • Yes! We do kids ear lobes from 6 years +

To help us out please prepare the child as much as possible before the appointment. Have them watch YouTube videos of people having their ears pierced with needles, explain what will be happening to them, DON'T tell them it won't hurt because it will!

Something to note is all piercing are done with needles and will have to be done one at a time. The child will have to be able to sit still for the duration of the procedure. You are looking at 10-15 seconds per ear depending on how they sit.
We do not allow parents to restrain the child in any way. We will not pierce if the child is visibly upset/overwhelmed and unwilling to have them done.
If the child does not want to have the second one done, we do not issue refunds or credit as the equipment is unusable once opened from the sterile package. The Jewellery can be re sterilized for when they are ready to try again.

  • For the initial piercing we also insert a longer bar to accommodate for swelling. If you find you have excessive swelling (no space on the bars) please get in contact with us to organize inserting longer bars. In the meantime you can do cold compresses. Place an ice cube in a clean zip lock bag, cover in a paper towel and hold on the area for 10 minutes. Do this 5 times a day if you can. This will ease the swelling and possible bruising.

  • Absolutely! We encourage you to bring support people with you! We do ask to limit the amount of people attending as the studio cannot accommodate large numbers.

If you are a minor a parent or legal guardian MUST be present for the appointment to ensure both parties understand the process and aftercare.

  • It is totally understandable to be nervous before getting a new piercing! The pain associated with the piercing often isn't as bad as what you may think.

We do not recommend using numbing cream for body piercings as it can distort/manipulate the tissue in the area. Meaning when it wears off and the tissue relaxes to its natural state, the piercings may become crooked or uneven.

Numbing cream does not seep into the deeper layers of skin/tissue. You will still experience pain or discomfort during the procedure. If you are planning on using numbing cream please reach out to us for a conversation!

If you show up with numbing cream you may be asked to reschedule till it wears off. As we will not be responsible for any consequences as outlined above.

  • No. The initial piercing Jewellery must be a specific length, gauge and sterile. I can not guarantee the quality and components of the Jewellery you own. The cost of the piercing includes Jewellery. You are more than happy to wait for the piercing to fully heal to wear any Jewellery of your choice.

  • All piercing appointments are 30-60 minutes long. This allows enough time for consent forms to be completed, Jewellery to be chosen and discussions about aftercare, processes etc.

Kids lobe appointments are a hour long to take our time!

  • There is no guaranteed life span for tooth gems. They could last anywhere between 6 months to 3-5 years!
This can depend on eating habits (eating tough lollys like toffee can shorten the life span)
We recommend not to pick or play with the gems.

  • Tooth gems are attached using a dental bonding technique very similar to how orthodontic brackets are placed, they are not glued on with regular glue.

We polish the tooth to remove saliva and debris. Then apply bonding, this opens the pores of the teeth to allow to glue to seep deeper. Use a UV light to cure.
We apply composite (glue) then apply the gem. We then cure with a UV light.
