Brazilian Rusty Birdeater

Native to the amazon basin, with confirmed record of being in Brazil, Peru, and possibly regions of the western Amazonia.
These spiders spend most of their life hidden underground. Females may occupy the same burrow for years, growing and maintaining it over time.
They have terrible eyesight, so they rely on vibrations and touch. They can detect subtle movements through special sensory hairs (trichobothria)
Females can live 15-20 years whereas males only live 3-6 years.
They eat a range of different foods, crickets, cockroaches, beetles, small frogs, small lizards, centipedes and occasionally rodents. Though they have the name ‘birdeater’ they very very rarely will consume birds. If they do, it’ll be a nestling bird or an injured bird within reach.
